Colorado continues to lead on energy and environmental policy in the absence of progress in Washington D.C. In the state, we completed a comprehensive set of legislation this past session to deliver on the promise of 100% clean energy, while protecting consumers and helping coal communities transition.

Pictured is one of the last operating coal mines in Somerset, CO. A dramatic and distinct move away from coal in power generation is occurring, displaced largely by low cost natural gas and wind.  The Colorado approach, which includes transport and infrastructure, goes a step further by addressing job displacement through the creation of the Just Transition Office within the Department of Labor.
