Job:

We are hiring a new Legislative Aide in our office. The Legislative Aide will start in September 2024 and is responsible for providing policy, administrative, and logistical support to Senator Hansen.

This position will be in-person at the Capitol Complex (200 E. 14th Avenue Denver, CO). Compensation is based on experience and ranges from $41,000 - $48,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Briefing the lawmaker on day-to-day proceedings at the Capitol;

  • Building and supervising town halls and other constituent engagement events;

  • Communicating with stakeholders to receive feedback on, and build consensus around, policy issues;

  • Managing communications through social media platforms and a bi-weekly newsletter;

  • Interacting with constituents by email, phone, and in-person meetings;

  • Maintaining contact lists and files;

  • Scheduling meetings;

  • Researching public policy and legislative proposals;

  • Supporting legislative committee work;

  • Supervising a team of interns;

  • Building and maintaining systems that assist in meeting these and other responsibilities;

  • Serves as the Director for the Colorado Science and Engineering Policy Fellowship

Qualified Candidates will:

  • Be goal oriented and comfortable juggling a wide variety of tasks

  • Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, Capitol employees, and the public

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher
